
Live Jazz Concerts return to Mead Base with Saxophonist Michael Zsoldos
and the Tom Robinson Trio on July 22nd!
We're back with an amazing evening of live jazz music! Michael Zsoldos and the Tom Robinson Trio will open the Jazz at Mead Base 2022 concert series for a one-night concert on Friday, July 22nd, 7 PM, at historic Mead Base Conservation Center in the White Mountain National Forest at the end of Diamond Ledge Road.
As a renowned saxophonist, Michael has performed with Paquito D’Rivera, Sheila Jordan, Kevin Mahogany, Houston Person, Luis Perdomo, Jason Palmer, Matt Wilson, Helen Sung, George Schuller, Armen Donelian, Bernadette Peters, Carole King, the Temptations, and many others. Michael will be backed up by the Tom Robinson Trio. The trio comprises long-standing musical cohorts who've performed together in various combos for 20 years. The piano chair is held by Sandwich-resident Tom Robinson, a jazz stalwart who also performs on soprano saxophone. Mr. Robinson tours frequently throughout New England as a leader and sideman and has been a featured artist at the Catamount Arts Center and Mountaintop Music Center. Bass guru John Hunter holds down bass lines for the Seacoast Big Band and Charlie Jennison group and has accompanied Dizzy Gillespie, Slide Hampton, Clark Terry, and Jimmy Heath. Drum set specialist Tim Gilmore is known far and wide for performances with Tiger Okoshi, Giacomo Gates, and Tower of Power and is an active clinician with Harry Skoler’s Adventures with Jazz in New York City and now plays throughout New England with a variety of artists. Coordinated by the NH Independent School of Music in Sandwich, some proceeds will fund ongoing programs at Mead Base. Indoor tickets cost $20, and the Friends of Mead ask that you are either vaccinated or masked. Outside seating on the porch or lawn is $5 - please bring your own chair. Tickets and may be purchased online in advance at www.nhisom.org or you can call 603-284-6550 to reserve tickets in advance. You can also buy tickets at the door (cash or Venmo only). From Route 113 in Center Sandwich, follow Grove Street which will then turn into Diamond Ledge Road. After Diamond Ledge becomes a dirt road, bear right when you see Sandwich Notch road and stay on Diamond Ledge to the end. Mead Base will be the last building.
